With all the main television manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, LG and Philips releasing new LED televisions in the UK and many starting to expand their ranges in the coming months, L.E.D. TVs are the next major advancement in High definition flat-screen LCD HDTV.
LED Televisions differ from a standard LCD TV by using L.E.D's (Light Emitting Diodes) as backlights instead of CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lighting) tube backlights. The use of LED's as either a full backlight array or edge lighting allows the TVs to be much thinner than standard LCD televisions and combined with their high definition, LED Television produces a higher quality more immersive viewing experience.
All of the LED backlit LCD Televisions which have been released in the UK so far are full HD ready (1920 x 1080p resolution) with a built in freeview tuner, which is ready for the digital switchover. They also have dynamic contrast ratios of at least 1,000,000:1 and with up to 40% less energy consumption they are the natural choice for anyone wanting a new flat screen HDTV.
