How to select the right TV for your needs
Televisions are used by most members of the household and are in use for several hours a day from watching the evening news to playing computer games, so when its time to buy a new one its often a big event which affects the whole family. Given the significance of such a large purchase, it is important when selecting what TV you are going to buy, to find the one that most suits your needs.
Selecting the right size TV
Selecting the right size television for optimal viewing is often overlooked by people being tempted to buy the biggest they can afford or the next size up to out do their friends.
A full high definition LCD screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which means that there are 1920 rows of pixels across the screen and 1080 down the screen, so the bigger the screen the further apart the pixels are. Sit to close and the gaps between the rows become more noticeable so the image wont be as smooth, sit to far away from a smaller screen and you wont see the benefit of the higher picture quality of Full HDTV.
The optimum viewing range should be between 1.5 and 3 times the size of the screen, below is a table with viewing ranges to help you ascertain what size screen would best suit your rooms size.
